We need dragonflies because they eat other harmful and annoying insects such as all types of mosquitos. In Japan, the dragonflies are endangered because in japan, the children get a piece of hair and tie 2 pebbles(small rocks) on each side of the hair and throws it at them and than they die. But the good news for the dragonflies is that the dragonfly means martial success and victory with strength, courage, and happiness. In Japan, they treat dragonflies with respect because they use to call Japan "the land of the Dragonflies". In other countries they don't treat them as well because its not their favorite insect.
